Double layer roofs require complete tear offs, down to the plywood, which is beneficial because it enables Hughes Construction to install added layers of protection such as drip edge and water and ice shield. Areas of concern are around the perimeter of the roof, valleys, boots, vents, and step flashing; so it is always a good idea to install added layers of protection in these areas.
